Aesthetics & Happiness

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
For me, beauty is found in many different things: A vase placed just-so on a countertop; a drawer organized neatly; a handful of framed photos in the corner of a room; fresh flowers.

When it comes to my home, I like to surround myself with little reminders of travel, family and friends.
I try to display things that make me and my family smile and remember good things, good times.

But when it comes to the kitchen, I feel differently.
For me, clutter affects my ability to live well.
When my kitchen is messy, I feel out of control.
When there is order, I feel peaceful (although some may say โ€œin controlโ€ since I have been called a control freak once or twice).
When I finish reorganizing or re-hauling the kitchen, I always feel a sense of calm come over me.

The aesthetic of it is very pleasing, but there may be more to having a tidy home than just what meets the eye. The idea that everything has a place and easily accessible is especially rewarding and gives me inner peace.
