Kitchen Hack: Tension Rods
Although typically known for being used in window treatments or shower curtains, tension rods are so much more than that. Not only are these budget-friendly bars easy to use, but there is essentially no end to the ways in which they can be utilized for organizing around the house. Below are two of my favorite ways to put them to work in the kitchen!
HANG SPRAY BOTTLES
Free up precious under-sink space by installing a mid-length tension rod across the inside of your cabinet. Hang any spray bottles or scrub brushes from it. You could even suspend a second rod and feed a roll of paper towels through it to create your very own hand-dandy dispenser right next to your cleaning products! If you’d like to see more, I wrote a whole blog post about under-sink organization!
ORGANIZE POTS, PANS & THEIR LIDS
Tension rods can also be used in the kitchen to organize cookware. If you have cabinet space that is simply overflowing with stacks of heavy pots and pans, try installing heavier duty tension rods horizontally across the space. Once finished, simply attach some s-hooks and voila! You have an easy place to hang your cookware side-by-side - no stacking necessary!
The lids for pots and pans can also become a storage issue. One easy way to keep these tidy is to install tension rods vertically in a cabinet space, using them as dividers through which you can slip each individual lid. So simple and easy, right?
I’ve even seen tension rods used in the kitchen for hanging herb pots in window spaces.
Do you have any tension rod hacks of your own? I’d love to hear them!
